It’s been over four years since the Black Clover anime paused production. Now that there’s plenty of source material and with the series approaching its 10th anniversary, fans are more eager than ever for updates — and we finally have a potential one on Black Clover season 5.

While Studio Pro had teased upcoming project reveals at Anime Japan 2025, no specific details were shared at the event. However, on April 18th 2025, Studio Pro officially confirmed Boruto 2: Blue Vortex Part Two on its website, which only heightened excitement about a possible Black Clover return.

With the 10th anniversary of the series around the corner, fans are hopeful. Plus, Studio Pierrot recently formed a partnership with Asahi Production to improve animation quality and focus on seasonal anime formats. Although no official confirmation for Black Clover has been made, it’s possible that Studio Pro is now prioritizing its biggest titles — and Black Clover is definitely one of them.

Yuki Tabata’s Black Clover manga debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2015 and is now celebrating its 10th year of serialization. The anime’s fourth season premiered on December 8th 2020 and wrapped up on March 30th 2021, just as the Clover Kingdom prepared for a massive showdown with the Spade Kingdom.

The anime went on an indefinite hiatus due to the lack of source material. With the show quickly catching up to the manga, production had to pause. But now, after a long wait, the manga has built up enough chapters to support an entirely new season.

Currently in its final arc, new manga chapters are still being released, with two new chapters scheduled to drop on May 2nd. Because of this momentum, speculation about the anime’s return is at an all-time high.

With the 10th anniversary in full swing, fans are hoping for a major announcement — especially since big anime often make headlines during milestone celebrations.

Black Clover season 5 is expected to pick up right where episode 170 left off, continuing the epic clash between the Clover Kingdom and the Spade Kingdom.

As for a potential release date, considering Studio Pro’s packed schedule — including the final part of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War and the newly announced Boruto 2: Blue Vortex — season 5 could potentially premiere in late 2027, which would align perfectly with the anime’s 10th anniversary.
